Bio-CNG
Fuel your fleet with greener, more efficient Bio-CNG
Put your commercial cars and trucks on the road for less with Bio-CNG, a renewable gas made from organic waste. Bio-CNG produces up to 90% less carbon emissions than alternative heavy fuels, making it a smarter, more sustainable choice for your business.
Driving real change
across the country
In 2024, we opened the first ever dedicated Bio-CNG refuelling self-service station in the Republic of Ireland. This marked a significant step forward in our commitment to real, tangible sustainability in the energy sector.
It’s also one of the many ways we continuously innovate new clean energy solutions for businesses throughout Ireland.

Frequently asked questions about Bio-CNG
We’re proud to spearhead one of the most significant advances in commercial energy generation in modern times. Every day, we help businesses to transition to this revolutionary technology while cutting costs and carbon emissions too.
Bio-CNG (Bio Compressed Natural Gas) is a compressed version of biomethane, a renewable gas that can be transported through the existing gas network infrastructure.
Biomethane is generated when organic matter is broken down through a process called anaerobic digestion. This organic matter can include food waste, animal slurry, and energy crops.
Bio-CNG production reduces carbon emissions by using organic waste materials that would otherwise go to landfills. The development of Bio-CNG also creates new jobs for local communities, additional revenue streams for farmers, and fresh opportunities for investment in renewable energy and waste management infrastructure.
Ireland’s commercial transport sector is currently viewed as one of the most challenging sectors to decarbonise. While electricity is a proven alternate fuel for private vehicles, electric solutions are currently not a viable option for HGVs.
Bio-CNG can support fleet operators and other businesses to address their sustainability challenges as it can reduce carbon emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional HGV fuels like diesel.
The Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme (RFAS) is an initiative designed and managed by Zemo Partnership. The Scheme aims to verify claims made by companies supplying renewable fuels to heavy duty vehicle and equipment operators regarding their product’s GHG emission savings and provenance of raw material feedstocks.
The RFAS works alongside the Irish and UK Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO), providing a mechanism for guaranteeing that fleet operators are purchasing bulk supplies of sustainable low carbon fuels.
The Scheme also enables fleet operators to receive renewable fuel supply chain specific greenhouse gas emission data, thereby ensuring accurate and representative information for company carbon reporting.
It is hoped that credible greenhouse gas emission savings figures will help inform decision-making processes regarding vehicle fleet decarbonisation options. These figures can easily and verifiably demonstrate the merits of sustainable low carbon fuels.
Follow the first-carbon free journey from Ireland to France
We’re proud to have partnered with our haulage customer Virginia Int Logistic to send a truck fuelled by renewable gas all the way to France. Read how Bio-CNG successfully fuelled a 1,000km on a round trip, carrying Irish beef from Cavan to Caen.
Bio-CNG can help you radically reduce your company’s carbon footprint while also cutting your fuel costs. Whether you have a fleet of cars, trucks, or other commercial vehicles, our expert team can help you find the right solution.
Let’s make this journey towards a sustainable future together.
