  • New agreement will give Flogas CNG (compressed natural gas) fuel card holders access for the first time to four Circle K CNG stations nationwide, alongside the Flogas Bio-CNG network

  • Centralised billing and sustainability reporting will provide fleet operators with clear data on carbon savings and environmental performance

  • New contract with Virginia International Logistics adds eight carbon-neutral trucks to the network, strengthening Ireland’s low-carbon transport infrastructure

Flogas, a DCC plc business, and Circle K today announce a new multi-year agreement, that significantly expands fuel card access for hauliers and extends Flogas’ supply of renewable Bio-CNG to Circle K’s national network of CNG stations. This partnership significantly enhances the availability of Bio-CNG (Bio Compressed Natural Gas), a carbon-reducing renewable gas made from organic waste materials, for Ireland’s hauliers and fleet operators. This collaboration will give both Flogas and Circle K customers greater access to low-carbon transport fuel across key logistics routes.

The agreement with Circle K represents a major step forward in expanding practical, reliable, and sustainable fuel options nationwide. Crucially, for the first time, Flogas CNG fuel card holders will now have seamless access to renewable Bio-CNG at all four Circle K CNG stations, in addition to the Flogas Bio-CNG stations.

Since the partnership began in 2022, Flogas and Circle K have strengthened their commitment to providing customers with low-carbon transport fuel options. Today, Bio-CNG refuelling is available at key Circle K stations in Dublin Port and Clonshaugh in Co. Dublin, Cashel in Co. Tipperary, Ballysimon Road in Co. Limerick, together with the Flogas Bio-CNG station in Barberstown, Co. Dublin. This combined network of five Bio-CNG stations provides nationwide coverage of up to 820 kilometres of range between sites, ensuring reliable refuelling access along Ireland’s key logistics corridors giving fleet and haulage operators the confidence to decarbonise their operations without disrupting routes.

Jonathan Diver, Senior Director of Fuel at Circle K said, “We are thrilled to be taking the next step in our partnership with Flogas, moving to fully renewable Bio-CNG and expanding access to cleaner transport solutions nationwide. This aligns closely with our wider sustainability goals and commitment to supporting customers, including Flogas customers, in their transition to lower-carbon fuels”

Customers can refuel using either Flogas or Circle K branded cards, with all transactions centrally billed and supported by detailed sustainability reporting. This report will give fleet operators transparent, auditable data on their carbon savings and overall environmental performance, supporting their compliance and ESG commitments.

Ciaran Gahan, Energy Services Manager of Flogas said, “Our renewed partnership with Circle K is about giving our customers greater flexibility, convenience, and transparency. For the first time, Flogas CNG fuel card holders will be able to refuel at every Circle K CNG station nationwide, as well as our own Bio-CNG network, under a single contract with Flogas. Customers can use both Flogas and Circle K branded cards, and all transactions will be billed centrally for their CNG usage. We will provide detailed sustainability reporting so they can clearly track their carbon savings.”

“This significant move, alongside our new contract with long-term partner Virginia International Logistics, demonstrates how Flogas is not only supplying fuel to its partners but also bringing new customers into the network, creating a stronger, more connected low-carbon transport infrastructure. It’s about making it easier for fleet operators, like Virginia, to decarbonise their operations while having the data they need to demonstrate real progress towards their environmental goals.”

Virginia International Logistics and Flogas Sign New Contract

Adding further momentum to this announcement, Flogas is also announcing today a new contract with long-term partner Virginia International Logistics in Co. Cavan. Under the deal, eight Virginia trucks will be issued Flogas fuel cards, enabling them to refuel at any Circle K CNG station or Flogas Bio-CNG station nationwide. This latest agreement builds on a partnership that began in 2019, when Flogas and Virginia collaborated on Ireland’s first carbon-neutral truck trip – when a Virginia International Logistics truck fuelled by renewable gas Bio-CNG, supplied by Flogas, travelled over 1,000kms on a round-trip, carrying processed beef from Liffey Meats in Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan to Caen in France.

“Our journey with Flogas towards greener transport began years ago, and this latest development is incredibly exciting,” said Blaithin Curran, Driver Management from Virginia International Logistics. “The ability for our eight new Bio-CNG trucks, and indeed our wider fleet, to refuel with Flogas cards at Circle K stations across the country is a game-changer for convenience and operational efficiency. It makes it easier than ever for Virginia International Logistics to maintain our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint while delivering reliable service for our customers.”

Flogas is also investing in Ireland’s long-term renewable gas infrastructure through its recently announced offtake agreement with Nephin Renewable Gas. Under this national-level agreement, Flogas will purchase all biomethane produced by Nephin’s three state-of-the-art anaerobic digestion plants, including one currently under construction in Ballinrobe, County Mayo. Once operational, these facilities will generate more than 250 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of sustainable, Irish-produced biomethane each year. This partnership strengthens the country’s indigenous energy supply and underscores Flogas’ strategic commitment to expanding access to domestically produced, lower-carbon fuels.
