Bereavement Support
Flogas are here to help
Firstly, on behalf of everyone at Flogas, please accept our sincere condolences on your loss.
We understand that dealing with practical matters after the loss of a loved one can be overwhelming. Our dedicated Bereavement Team is here to support you and make managing the energy account as straightforward as possible.
Whether you need to transfer an account, update a joint account or simply ask for advice, we'll guide you through each step of the process.
The Bereavement Process
1. Complete our bereavement support form
To help us locate the account, please include:
- Flogas Account Number (if known)
- MPRN or GPRN (if available)
- Name of the deceased account holder
- Your contact details
2. Account Information
- Account in the name of the deceased
If the account was held solely in the name of the deceased, we will arrange to transfer the account to the new legal account holder.
To do this, we'll ask you to provide:
- Date the account holder passed away
- Your relationship to the account holder
- A current electricity and/or gas meter reading (where possible)
- Full name, email address and telephone number of the new account holder
- A completed Direct Debit Mandate (if the new account holder wishes to pay by Direct Debit)
The simplest way to do this is to complete the bereavement support form.
If you are the joint account holder and wish to continue the account in your sole name, the process is much simpler.
We will:
- Remove the name of the deceased account holder.
- Update your contact details where required.
- Update Direct Debit details if they need to be changed.
- Ensure all future bills and communications are sent to you.
- Ensure there is no interruption to your energy supply.
To provide continuity during this difficult time, we will honour the existing tariff and contract terms until the original contract renewal date. This means your agreed prices and contract arrangements will remain unchanged following the account update.
3. Account Information
Once we've received the information we need, our Bereavement team will:
- Review your request.
- Update the account.
- Contact you if any further information is required.
- Confirm when the changes have been completed.
Our aim is to make this process as simple and stress-free as possible.
Common Questions
No. Updating an account following a bereavement will not interrupt your electricity or gas supply.
For all accounts, your existing tariff and contract terms will continue until the original renewal date.
No. If you're unable to provide everything straight away, please let us know. Our Bereavement Team will advise you on what is needed and help you through the process.
Every bereavement is unique. If your situation doesn't fit the scenarios above, please contact our Bereavement Team. We'll guide you through the most appropriate process.
Once we've received all the required information, we'll complete the requested changes and issue your updated account within 5 working days. Occasionally, some cases may take a little longer. If this happens, we'll keep you informed of our progress and provide regular updates until your request has been completed.
No. We do not formally require a copy of the death certificate to process your request. However, if you wish to provide one as supporting documentation, you are welcome to do so.
That's not a problem. If you don't have the account number, we'll do our best to locate the account using other information, such as the deceased's name, the supply address, or any other details you can provide.
If we need any additional information to identify the account, we'll let you know.
