Electric Picnic Teams Up with Flogas to Power Main Stage with Renewable Electricity.

Electric Picnic main stage will be powered by renewable electricity from Flogas.

Flogas teams up with Jaroma Wind Farm in Co. Tipperary to deliver Irish wind power to the heart of Ireland’s biggest music festival!

Flogas, a leading provider of innovative energy solutions in Ireland, is proud to announce its exciting partnership with Electric Picnic, Ireland’s most iconic music and arts festival, becoming the festival’s Official Energy Partner!

This collaboration will see Flogas, part of DCC plc, power the Electric Picnic main stage with renewable electricity via the electricity grid, significantly reducing the event’s carbon footprint showcasing best practices for sustainable event management.

At the heart of this partnership is a Corporate Power Purchase agreement (CPPA) between Flogas and Highfield Energy’s Jaroma wind farm in Co. Tipperary. Ensuring the grid supplied electricity powering the main stage is sourced from Irish renewable wind energy, any balance of consumption not powered by this CPPA is backed by GOs (Guarantee of Origin). This collaboration not only guarantees a cleaner, greener festival experience but also reflects both organisations’ long-term commitment to environmental leadership.

“This partnership with Electric Picnic is a proud moment for Flogas,” said John Rooney, Managing Director of Flogas. “We’re delighted to be powering the main stage with renewable electricity, helping to significantly cut the festival’s carbon emissions. It’s a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how local, renewable energy can deliver at scale and support a more sustainable future for everyone.”

Rita Kirwan, Marketing and Communications Director at Flogas added, “Electric Picnic is a cultural institution, and we’re thrilled to power the main stage with renewable electricity. By powering the main stage with renewable electricity, we’re making sustainability visible, accessible, and impactful for festivalgoers. The GAS part about Flogas is that the GAS part is only part of it”.

Electric Picnic, renowned for its celebration of music, arts, and community, sees this partnership as a natural next step in its sustainability journey. Melvin Benn, Festival Director of Electric Picnic commented, “We’re delighted to welcome Flogas as the Official Energy Partner of Electric Picnic. Flogas’s expertise and leadership in renewable energy make them the perfect partner as we continue to reduce the festival’s environmental impact.”

John O’Connor, Managing Director of Highfield Energy said, “We’re proud to partner with Flogas on this exciting initiative. Seeing our wind energy directly power one of Ireland’s biggest cultural events is a powerful testament to the potential of renewable electricity to fuel not just businesses and homes, but also the beating heart of Ireland’s music scene.”

The partnership marks the beginning of a two-year journey between Flogas and Electric Picnic, with both organisations committed to exploring new and innovative ways to further reduce the festival’s environmental impact.

With a proven track record of pioneering sustainable energy solutions including supplying network connected biomethane gas to large enterprises across Ireland, Flogas continues to lead the way in renewable energy innovation. Its leadership in Corporate Power Purchase Agreements have empowered businesses to access Irish renewable energy directly from local generators like Highfield Energy and many more Irish generators.
