Eddie Houlihan (pictured with Tommy Murray from Flogas) and his family experienced oil theft firsthand. Eddie said, “We had been away for a couple of days and when we arrived back, the house was cold, even though we had left the timer on. We couldn’t figure it out until I checked our oil tank level and discovered that the oil had been stolen.”
Eddie decided to avail of an SEAI upgrade grant and switch from oil to LPG.
“LPG is theft-proof and that was a big plus as far as I was concerned. I liked the efficiency of a condensing gas boiler and its lower running costs.”

The conversion only took a couple of days and all went very smoothly and the Houlihan family now use LPG for heating, hot water, gas fire and gas barbeque. “I am very happy with how it all went and the new gas boiler is a lot quieter than the old oil boiler. The central heating and hot water is pretty instant and it’s a very neat installation too. It’s also a great advantage to have our gas barbeque piped into the system and I am impressed with how versatile LPG is to use in the home” said Eddie.
