Do I Need An Adaptor?

Within the Republic of Ireland, the standard filling connection is the Acme connector (the outside diameter of the one used is 1.75" / 45mm) while within Northern Ireland, the standard filling connection is the Bayonet connection.  You may need an adapter if either of these are not the standard in your country. Some outlets have adapters, particularly those near the ferry terminals, but it would be better if you obtained one in advance of travelling.  Over the next few years, this is expected to be resolved with the adoption of a standard European connector system.
