Vartry Rowing Club is honoured at Civic Reception for Celtic Challenge win

When Mr Leo Varadkar TD, the incoming Taoiseach (pictured) called into the Wicklow County Council offices recently, he met members and supporters of the Vartry Rowing Club who were attending a Civic Reception to honour their victory in the 2017 Celtic Challenge, for which Flogas sponsored the fuel for the support boats.

The Celtic Challenge is recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the longest open water rowing race in the world. Members of the 12-strong victorious crew, who rowed 144.5 km non-stop from Arklow to Aberstwyth in Wales in just over 18 hours in extremely difficult conditions to win the Challenge, were presented with a Civic Award by Councillor John Snell, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow Municipal District.
