Almost 10,000 racegoers and thousands watching on television saw Outlander outstrip the competition and prove his worth as favourite in the second annual Flogas Novice Steeplechase at the Irish Gold Cup meeting on Saturday 6th February 2016 at Leopardstown. The steed from Gigginstown Stud hit the front against Pont Alexandre on the final fence approach, keeping on well under pressure from there and scoring by two and three parts of a length. It was one of four wins in one day for Champion trainer Willie Mullins.

John Rooney, managing director, Flogas Ireland, said, “Congratulations to the winners for an very exciting finish to the Flogas Novice steeplechase that had plenty of our guests on their feet. It was an immensely relaxed and enjoyable day that showcased the best that Irish racing has to offer.”
