Flogas Sponsors Denzil's Marathon 10 in 10 Charity Challenge
Flogas was delighted to sponsor a singlet for marathon runner Denzil Jacobs’s epic 10 in 10 challenge, which was to run 10 marathons over 10 consecutive days and raise €10,000 for the Saplings Special School for Autism in Carlow, where he works as a paediatric occupational therapist. The 10 in 10 marathon challenge was organised by the BMOH Harriers in Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare and ran from 4 – 13 July. Denzil joined an small group of elite marathon runners to pound roads and pavements throughout Limerick and Clare during the hottest spell of summer weather that Ireland has experienced in nearly 20 years.
Yet, mighty Denzil managed to run a staggering eight of those 10 marathons in under four hours and his final fundraising tally is on course to reach €10,000 as well. Denzil said, “I’m really grateful to Flogas for sponsoring me and all the monies raised will go towards upgrading our current equipment as well as providing much needed speech and language therapy classes for the children at Saplings.”
The 10 in 10 is organised by the BMOH Harriers in Sixmilebridge and only 20 athletes were allowed to do it, most to raise money for their respective charities. So Denzil will be pounding the pavements and grass of Limerick and Clare from 4 – 13 July 2013.
