Flogas has sponsored the Jerpoint summer exhibition for several years and this year’s event showcased a stunning collection of batik paintings by the Dublin-born artist. The Exhibition forms part of the annual Kilkenny Arts Festival celebrations and runs from 3rd August to 7th September 2012.

Speaking at the launch, John Kirwan, local Flogas representative, said, "We are delighted once again to support Jerpoint in the staging of this annual exhibition, which is always one of the highlights of the annual Kilkenny Arts Festival. We wish Sally and her team great success with this year's event which showcases some wonderful work by Bernadette Madden."

Batik is an ancient method of applying colour and design to fabric. Using heavy linen, Madden uses dyes, layer upon layer, until she reaches the depth and richness of tone that she wants. Each colour has to be applied in a separate dye-bath and the fabric allowed to dry between colours. Some of the batiks in this exhibition have been dyed more than 20 times.

The exhibition is open 7 days a week and free of charge. For more details, visit www.jerpointglass.com
