Flogas Ireland is now a headline sponsor for the inaugural YesChef Charity Cycle in aid of Cystic Fibrosis on 23rd – 25th May 2016. Well-known chefs Derry Clarke of L’Ecrivain in Dublin, JP McMahon of Aniar in Galway and Bryan McCarthy of Greenes in Cork will be joined by Warren Gillen of Cistin Eile in Wexford, Johnny Garcia from Relish in Dundalk in addition to 80 other cyclists working in the hospitality industry.

The 300k (186 miles) three-day pedal will begin and end in Lisdoonvarna in Co. Clare, looping its way through Galway, Kinvara, Spiddal and ending at the Burren Slow Food Festival.

Organiser Shane Smith of YesChef Ireland hopes to raise between €12-15,000 for Cystic Fibrosis in the Republic and Northern Ireland. He said:

“I’m delighted to welcome Flogas into the saddle for this event, which I hope to develop into an annual charity fundraising event for chefs, front of house, suppliers and other individuals working in the hospitality industry.  It will be a fantastic fun filled three days. I cannot stress enough that anyone can do this. I took up cycling in June 2015 and did 300k a couple of months later. It’s a leisure cycle, not a race!”

Paul Ruegg, marketing executive for Flogas NI, said:

“We were very happy to put ‘the pedal to the metal’ and support this very worthy event, which, thanks to the energy and commitment of Shane and the team at YesChef, has all the makings of a breakaway success!”
