Understanding your Commercial Electricity Bill

We’d like to explain how we now align your electricity usage more closely with official ESB Network (ESBN) readings

ESB Networks (ESBN) Readings - Every Two Months:

ESB Networks (ESBN) is responsible for reading your meter and supplying us with the consumption details for billing. ESBN has a two-monthly cycle for meter reading i.e. 6 readings a year. They endeavor to take four actual readings per year and the other two readings are estimates based on your previous usage patterns. ESBN may be unable to get actual readings when they call to your premises, due to access etc, in which case estimated readings are calculated.

Your Flogas Monthly Bill Cycle:

You receive a bill from us every month. To ensure maximum accuracy and alignment with ESBN readings, your bills will in future balance out over a two-month period:

  • Month 1: Your bill will be based on a meter reading supplied by ESBN. This may be an “Estimated” reading E or “Actual” reading A on the meter readings shown on your bill.
     
  • Month 2: Your bill will be based on a Flogas estimated reading. E will be indicated.
     
  • Month 3: Your bill will be issued when we receive the next ESBN reading. Again it may be an Actual or Estimated reading. We will show the total consumption on your bill since the last ESBN reading ie a two month period.
     
  • The consumption details on your bill will show Month 2 consumption reversed, please see the example below:

  • In this example the previous bills consumption of 548 Day and 27 Night based on a Flogas Estimate has been reversed, and the full 2 months consumption provided by ESBN – in this case based on two Actual readings “A” - of 1028 Day and 41 Night is shown.
     
  • Rest assured, you will only be charged in Month 3 for the difference in the consumption from Month 2 to Month 3.
     
  • Where you provide a customer read accepted by ESBN , “C” will be indicated on the bill. This may create an updated bill being issued, reversing the previous estimate.
     

We believe that this process provides a more balanced, and more consistent billing experience. You will continue to receive monthly bills, and your bills will more closely reflect your energy usage over each two-month cycle.
