These are used to heat an individual room. They are particularly suitable for heating a few rooms which would not justify the cost of a full hot-water central heating system.

Central Heating Systems

Central Heating systems, also called "wet" heating systems, use a boiler to heat water which is then pumped around radiators to heat individual rooms or offices. They are particularly convenient when automated with time clocks and thermostats, which are relatively cheap. Condensing boilers achieving efficiencies in excess of 90% and even 95% are now available. While ideal for typical domestic homes and offices, they are not suited to high ceilings / rooves as the inevitable result is heating the air close to the ceiling rather than the occupied level.
